Times Like These…

Standard

It’s times like these that I wish I were schooled in theology.
I wish oh I wish I were a preacher and degreed,
So that people would take heed.
So many words I’d like to say,
so many prayers I need to pray.

Beloved even demons acknowledge God and His sovereignty, read James 2:19. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James+2%3A19&version=ESV
God allows His children to be tested and for good reason. We must be prepared when we join in the battle between the powers and the principalities. Testing refines us and hones our hearts. Soldiers don’t go off to war without training so we have to arm ourselves. Read Ephesians 6:10-18

Sin is sin. Regardless of the nature of it. I do believe we pick certain ones out and make one more horrific than another but that isn’t the case. Truthfully we do that to make our own selves look less sinful. The fact remains that we’re all sinners, we live in a sin sick and fallen world. Christians have chosen to accept the forgiveness of Christ and believe in Him. We try to live according to His word and have a personal relationship with Him yet we all fall short. We’re sinners saved by grace. No one sin is greater than the other. Only by and through the blood of Jesus can we remain standing. There is only one sin that can not be pardoned…that of unbelief.

We’ve all heard the ruling of the Supreme Court – it is heart rendering at best. I’ve been reading posts from preachers and other Christians. They’re warning people and spilling the grief and sorrow this decision has wrought among the Christian community. The comments in response to these posts makes my blood run cold. Scripture is being misquoted and taken out of context but it isn’t surprising. Read Timothy 4:3-4 and then read Revelation 22:18-20

How to explain Christianity to those who refuse to hear? We can’t. People must choose for themselves whether to believe or not. To take God’s word as true or not. So what can we do?

As followers of Christ Jesus our job is to spread the gospel and plant the seed. We can’t hate people. We can hate sin. Be warned though, we must protect our hearts and not be swayed! Baby Christians may fall by the wayside! Stay in tune with the Spirit’s leading, keep your eyes on Jesus. Don’t look to the right or the left. Gather with other believes and stay strong! The enemy is out to devour but he has no victory here.

Understand this, when we choose to do battle with someone over a sin issue we must be as prepared as the enemy. Trust me…most sinners know the word but choose to not live by it. I’ve known atheists that can spout Scripture word for word and they always have an argument ready. I know those who once believed and for some reason have chosen to renege on it, even after reading the Bible from cover to cover.

Christian brothers and sisters…guard your hearts and minds. We’re not called to argue on God’s behalf. He will handle it all at the appointed time.

“The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.” (Rev. 22:21)
